The Mommy Massage
For all who have little bundles of joy (and energy) in their lives. Specially designed for anyone who has to carry, care for, pick up for, pick up after, and keep up with infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, and other young ones. (Parents of teens may want to check out the relaxing and stress relieving qualities of my Swedish massage). Focusing on the particular areas of tension and discomfort inherent in raising children, this session generally runs about 40 minutes (although longer are available) to give you time to get in and out for a one-hour sitter. |

The Mommy Massage’s development coincided with the birth and growth of my newborn son. At 7lb 4oz, he wasn’t oversized, to be sure, but time would show us an exponential increase in size and weight. Most babies give their parents a break-in period to get used to carrying around an additional few pounds, and then gradually increase the load (much like your friendly neighborhood personal trainer). Not our boy... by 4 months-old, he weighed in at over 20lbs(!). The aches and pains associated with carrying and caring for our (not so) little tot accumulated at an alarming rate. Such mundane tasks as walking up a flight of stairs, bending to pick up a dropped whatever, or negotiating keys and a grocery bag all became much more taxing when performed with the added child-sized weight. And given the always-on demands of parenting, calling time-out wasn’t an option. Working through my wife’s and my own emerging muscular issues showed a pattern; and once recognized, it presented itself in many of my child rearing clients. Areas of vulnerability and over-use carried over from one case to another, and revealed the need for targeted treatment. Enter the Mommy Massage. Modified, tweaked, and compressed to fit into a timeframe that allows for hectic child-filled schedules (if needed), the Mommy Massage can help keep the “break-in” period from becoming a breakdown period. |
